Name: Ioalus and Fenrir Rushtail
Gender: Both Males
Age: Mid Twenties in human years. It is unsure just how old he is, but he’s at least a month or so old.
Species: Snow Leopards
Personality : Ioalus has always been a quiet individual around others. He tries not to draw attention to himself and tends to mainly listen when others are arguing. If he feels his opinion is needed, he’ll give it. Otherwise, he’ll remain in the background and let them fight it out. Whenever he does speak, his words are quiet and well spoken, almost making sure people will have to listen carefully to hear him.
Battle is another situation entirely. As a seasoned hunter and fighter, he has learned how to channel his inner beast and use it almost as a weapon in and of itself. Alongside all this, he has become a gentle and protective father to his cub, his most valued possession in the world. Even if someone is a friend, he’s found himself to be very protective if he thinks the way they look at his son is off.
Fenrir has had little time to develop a real personality. All he has really shown yet is a love for play and an intense curiosity for all things, but what cub doesn’t feel that way? But even with this, he has shown kindness and love for others, often trying to help other people feel better when he can tell they’re feeling sad.
Appearance : Ioalus is of average size for his kind. He isn’t too large to fit in the dwellings of Redwall, but he’s large enough that in some rooms he has to duck his head a little, making it more comfortable to live outside. He’s well muscled for his kind, which makes him a strong hunter and fighter for whatever side he is on.
He has little in the way of clothing, but is rarely seen without his cape. It is made from simple goat skin and is hemmed with fur. When asked why he rarely takes it off, he doesn’t answer, he simply looks away, a saddened look in his eyes. In truth, it was created for him by his wife and is the only other thing he has to remind him of her, second to Fenrir. His left ear is also studded with several earrings, but they aren’t as significant as the cape.
Fenrir is just like any Snow Leopard cub. His fur is fluffed up and his coloring is bright. His eyes are bright blue and he always seems to have a smile on his face.
Allegiance : Redwall
Weapons : The only real weapons Ioalus has are the ones nature gave him. His claws and his teeth are all the weapons he needs, they aid him in battle and are easy to control whether or not they kill his target. He has tried other weapons in battle, but finds that really the only ones he can use are the ones he was born with.
Position : N/A
History : Ioalus grew up in the mountains like any other normal Snow Leopard. Like the others, he learned to walk and climb on four legs before he learned to walk upright. He played with the others, learning to hunt and stalk as well as fight through idle play. But as with all things, he began to grow up. Play became practice, all fours became upright. Then he fell in love.
He met his wife, Semera, on a hunting expedition. She was from a neighboring clan that shared hunting grounds with his clan and the two had gone after the same mountain goat, which had gotten away in the end when the two spotted each other. The attraction had been instantaneous and the two knew they wanted to spend their lives together. That very same day, Ioalus traveled to her clan and asked her father for permission to court her and eventually marry her. He was given permission by her father, but her brothers didn’t share his feelings, though they didn’t show them at the time.
In little time, Ioalus and Semera were married and had moved away from both clans to live for a few years in solitude so they could better decide where they wanted to live. It wasn’t long after that when they found Semera was with child. They talked during the pregnancy, trying to decide on names for the child to come. They eventually settled on a female name and a male name.
When the time came for the baby to be born, tragedy struck. As Semera fell into labor, her brothers attacked. They had decided long ago that if Semera was serious about marrying an outsider, then she deserved to die. Two of them attacked Ioalus from behind and held him while the third went to kill Semera and the child. Ioalus managed to break free and kill the brothers, but he was too late. Semera was dead, and the child wouldn’t be far behind.
Left with no choice, he cut the baby from her womb and opened her breasts, taking the milk that poured from them to feed the baby. The mutilation brought tears to his eyes and his hands shook with the agony of having to do this, but in his heart, he knew Semera would want their son to live, even if she had to be destroyed to do so.
Knowing the clan would blame him for everything, he took his child and ran, going southward and wandering aimlessly. As he wandered, he lost track of time, he never knew how long he had been out in the wild. The only way he had to gauge was how much Fenrir grew up. He used the milk sparingly, trying to stretch it as much as he could, but as Fenrir grew, the amount of milk he needed grew and soon, they were out of milk.
It was a few days after they ran out that Ioalus spotted a building in the distance, a structure that could only be the work of intelligent beings. He stumbled along the road, weak from hunger as he held his child in his arms. As he approached, he was spotted by the patrols and taken into Redwall to be cared for.
RP Sample : Ioalus stumbled through the bushes, finding himself on a road suddenly. Panting and tired, he looked up and down the road, then his gaze fell on a large structure in the distance. Slowly, he started wandering down the road towards it, thinking they could at least save Fenrir’s life. As he approached, he heard a shout from atop the wall and he fell to the ground, unable to go any farther. He turned as he fell so he’d fall on his back instead of his front, where he would crush the fragile cub in his arms. Fenrir mewed loudly, pawing at his father’s nose to try and wake him up as footsteps approached.
He felt someone take the cub from him, making the baby meow loudly in protest as he tried to get back to his father. Weakly, Ioalus forced his eyes open, staring around at the faces that crowded around him, all manner of animals lived in this place it seemed. What happened after that, he didn’t know, as he lost consciousness when they lift him from the ground.
Next thing he knew, his eyes slowly opened and he looked around. Fenrir was curled up on his chest, having meowed nonstop til he was allowed back with his father. Only then would he take the milk offered him. Now the baby boy was asleep and Ioalus smiled a little before looking around to see who had cared for his son.
