1-1-1 Sarin, Cylic and Demetrius!
____
Demetrius pushed open the door to below the deck with his foot and carried the arms full of nuts down the wooden stairs. He walked past the cells, trying not to look at anyone in them, when he got to the center of the room, he emptied the nuts into the container in the middle and they all shot off to the different cells, enough for one squirrel each... That was all Cylic allowed them. Demetrius looked over his shoulder to make sure he hadn't been followed and crept over to the furthest cell... "Sarin... I have your extra nuts." He whispered through the door.

From inside the cell a squirrel with a green cloak sat. His back was up against the wall and tail laid beside his legs. He may looked like he was defeated but he was far from being so. Sarin was actually mentally challenging himself, imagining all the different ways he could escape, though he and a few others had already planned their escape. His poor Father and Mother had been killed, and his sisters. He sighed and looked at his feet.
He then heard Demetrius’s voice and gave a small smile. He went to the cell bars were and peered at the hare. Demetrius was risking his life by doing this, and the other prisoners were probably wondering why he had come over here. he smiled warmly to the hare and asked if the preparations were all done.

"Yes." Demetrius nodded, looking over his shoulder again, "We should be docking at Heelios in two days, or so Warlord Flametail says..." He muttered the last bit, almost to himself, then handed Demetrius three round acorns. "Warlord Flametail doesn't want you fed until we leave Heelios, he knows you are dangerous..." "When... When should I tell Katrina and Anna?" Demetrius' voice faltered for a second, he'd been a slave too long and the idea of freedom was too far away for Demetrius to be hopeful just yet.

Sarin nodded as he took the nuts. He didn’t like the fact that he got special treatment while the others had to practically starve. Perhaps he should tell Demetrius to bring some for the others – not much but enough, though if he brought too much it may raise suspicions, and the squirrel didn’t want that. He wanted to keep Flametail thinking that he had the upper hand and think that his slaves were too weak to do anything.
“Demetrius, listen to me very carefully. I need you to bring extra nuts for everyone else. They’ll need their strength if they’re to escape with us. And try to smuggle other foods too – bringing just nuts won’t do. Now, go before they come down,” said Sarin before flicking some of the spare nuts to the nearest cells. He received murmured thanks and set about eating his share of the nuts.

Demetrius nodded and with a look of gratitude in his eyes and walked back passed the cells and up the stairs. He had three jobs for the next two days. Stealing Warlord Flametail's set of keys, finding more food for the squirrels and explaining the escape plan to his sisters... He walked over to the edge of the ship and looked over into the churning the water below. He was lost the thoughts of freedom and only awakened when he heard someone shouting at him. He wheeled around and there was a rat stood there pointing a mop and bucket. Demetrius nodded and walked over to it and started mopping.

Sarin watched as his friend left, wondering why he had been spared from being in a cell. As he munched on the nuts that his friend had given him the red squirrel pondered over their escape. Had they thought of everything? If not then dear lives would be lost. He hoped with all his heart that he had thought of everything. He didn’t want to spend another season in this nightmare. His poor mother and father – they’d be avenged! He’d take scores of vermin just to make them suffer.
“Sarin, I'm afraid,” said a young squirrel. Sarin knew that the squirrel couldn’t see but smiled anyway. He spoke to the squirrel, comforting him and eventually telling him and the others a story of freedom. A story that would hopefully inspire the slaves to free themselves when the time came.

Demetrius watched from where he was 'cleaning the anchor chain' as Warlord Flametail and the other Vermin left, leaving a young rat as a guard. As soon as they left, the guard walked over to Demetrius smirking, as this usually happened, Demetrius was used to it. They always decided to start bossing him around as soon as their leader and highers left.
"Go and clean my bunk!" The rat snapped at him, Demetrius smiled and looked at him, "I don't think so..." The hare smiled. "What?" The rat said, not catching on, his confused expression turned into one of shock as Demetrius stabbed him in the stomache with the knife he'd been hiding under his rags.
Demetrius took the keys from the rat's belt and ran down the stairs to the cells, he opened Sarin's cell first and tossed him in a set of the keys, "Start getting the others out. Katrina and Anna are keeping watch up on deck.

This was it: the night they’d all escape. The red squirrel had planned it well enough that he hoped that nothing would go wrong. He waited, ready to pounce when Demetrius freed him. They would free the others and show the vermin how wrong they were to keep them imprisoned, especially Captain Cylic Flametail. Oh, how the adept Poisonmaster hated that fox with a passion.
Sarin heard a thud up deck and saw his hare friend come rushing down. He smiled – it was time. Demetrius had opened the cell, which Sarin only too gladly got out of and heard what he had to say. Sarin nodded and then grasped the keys from his friend, unlocking the nearest cell. One by one he unlocked all the cells, with some dashing out and others having to be coaxed out. When they were all out Sarin allowed his friend to lead them, sensing that others weren’t as fond of Demetrius as Sarin was.
“It’s now or never, friend.”

Demetrius nodded and then motioned for the squirrels to follow him as he crept up the staircase. His sisters were watching guard and Demetrius cringed with every squeak and creak of the wooden ship. "Go. Now quickly. Across the gangplank and into the woods to the east. We'll meet you there." He told the first few squirrels who then started scurrying down the wooden board and following his instructions.

Sarin heard his friend’s instructions and nodded. A few overzealous squirrels rushed past but Sarin knew that timing and stealth was key to this plan. After a few minutes, Sarin gestured for the other surviving squirrels to go. When some didn’t Sarin had to push them off. The red squirrel prayed with all his might that this plan worked. He had to make sure that most of them survived if this didn’t succeed.
“Come on, this is no time to be stopping,” said Sarin, who was holding a young squirrelmaid. Reluctantly, the squirrels got up and obeyed the squirrel. They knew that their lives depended on it. Sarin watched anxiously as they left. It was just him and the three hares left on the ship now....

Finally, after half an hour's nervous, anxious work... Everyone was off the boat, excluding Sarin, Anna, Katrina and Demetrius. Demetrius nodded at Sarin then heard angry yells coming from the village. The Vermin were on to them. "Go Anna!" Demetrius shouted at his sister, drawing his knife from his belt. They didn't have much time... Not much at all. Suddenly, there was a whilstling and Demetrius opened his mouth to shout, but it was too late.
It happened in a flash. A crossbow dart pierced Anna's chest and the female hair fell off the gangplank, the water below turning a crimson colour. Anna didn't return to the surface. "ANNA! NO!" Demetrius yelled he charged down the gangplank and met the oncoming Vermin alone, slashing with his knife, killing two Vermin, until his knife was knocked out of his hand, he was punched in the face and fell back to the ground. The male hare picked up a sword and continued fighting by himself, seeing red and wanting nothing but revenge.
"Sarin! Please, run and get your squirrels away. Demetrius and I shall hold the Vermin off, and avenge our sister until our own deaths." Katrina said to Sarin before throwing herself onto the gangplank and taking the crossbow she'd stolen from Warlord Flametail's cabin off her back. She loaded it and fired, hitting a Vermin the the face. She reloaded and fired again. Between Demetrius and Katrina, the Vermin were dying quickly, but were arriving in greater numbers even faster. "RUN SARIN!"
