Sierra had fondly done it. She was able to sneak out of Redwall and into the Mossflower woods. She had backed the night before and even brought her wooden sword with her. It may not kill anyone but hey it she could still clobber any beasts that dear try to eat her with it. Though right now she was not really running away quit yet. She just wanted to get used to the woods and get back home before anyone started to miss her. Sierra smiled at her new freedom though. Her little body also trembled but not with fear but excitement. She has only ever gazed at the beauty the forest. But now she was in it and taking everything in. How the trees swayed in the breeze, how the sun shined though the trees and how the fresh dirt under her feet felt.. And the smell everything around her and the sounds.. She loves every minute of it.
As she walked on a worn path way Sierra took a deep breath and exhaled and smiled big. Then she started to run, not at full speed but like at a jog. As she jogged she saw a very tall sturdy tree. Sierra smiled and jogged right over it. When she was next to it she looked up to see how tall it was. " Wow!!! This tree is HUGE!!!" Sierra exclaimed and put her paws on it. " I wonder what I could see from the top of this tree?" Sierra wondered and she started the long clime up to the top. After a little while she made to the top and gasped like when she saw the forest for the first time in her life.. The world was HUGE!!! Bigger then she could have ever imagined!! For the longest time she looked at the world around her.
Then when she got over the shock at seeing how big the world is she smiled and started to clime down the tree. Now Sierra really wanted to explore the world!!! But for now she would settle exploring the forest. When she got back down to the bottom of the tree Sierra then looked of things that where off the path way and decided to explore those parts. So she stepped off the path way and started to walk deeper into the woods. unaware of some other beasts that where also in the forest. Right know she was just having the time of her life. Doing what she has always dreamed about.

Janna ran as fast as her legs could take her she bounded and lept from branch to branch she loved being out side her hand grabbing each one as she moved quickly. That was till she saw a movement below her and she stopped glancing down. she usually didn't like company or rather only sareins company was the only one she trusted.
Slowly she moved little by little closer to the figure her tail twitching and her ears listening to any sound it might make though as she did move her hand slipped and she tumbled down to land on her butt right in front of who now she could see a young squirrelmaid. Scrambling to her feet she ran to the nearest tree and hide.

A figure rushed across the woods, a blur to anyone watching. While he may not have been the fastest beast in Redwall Sarin was still quite fast. He had seen Janna go out of the Abbey. He wanted to make sure she was fine. For some time now Sarin had been noticing the squirrelmaid and liked what he saw. Though she was shy and sort of anti-social, Sarin liked Janna. The Poisonmaster had his staff and pouches of poison with him in case something happened. Sarin sniffed the air, making sure he was on the right track.
He could smell Janna, she had a distinct smell: juniper mixed with rosemary. See, when dealing poisons the user has to tell the poison by smell. It could be the line between life and death. As he was going through the wood, coming ever closer to Janna, he came across another smell. A sort of white powdery smell mixed with hazelnut. His speed increased and he was with Janna in no time.
“Janna, are you ok?” said Sarin, worried. He then noticed Sierra. What was she doing outside? Well, for the time being he’d let her be. “Out for a little stroll, are we, Sierra?”

Sierra smiled as she walked and looked at the trees, flowers and even the rocks around her. Everything was soo fresh and new to her. But even though woods held such beauty, she remembered the dangers her Father told her about... The vermin that where evil and would kill her with out much thought. But if she could out smart them she should be fine. Just then she started to hear something from above her. She looked up just in time to see Red Squirrel fall from the tree above her. Sierra let out a yelp and jumped back when the Red Squirrel landed in front of her. For a few minutes Sierra breathed hard from the shock but started to calm down.
After a minute she looked at here the other Red Squirrel hid and tilted her white furry head. Her pink eyes wondering who that was and wondered why she was hiding. " Who.....Who are you? Why are you hiding?" Sierra asked. Then she heard the sound of a beast running toward them. Sierra started to go for her wooden sword thinking whatever it was, was a vermin. But when it got closer she saw it was Sarin.... The poisenmaster of Redwall... Her ears went flat on her head and her bushy tail puffed up.
Her new found freedom was now going to end before it even really got started... Thats how she felt anyway. She then tried to hid that she had a wooden sword and just looked at Sarin nervous look. When when he asked her if she was out for a walk she had no idea what to say. But after thinking about it she thought it best to say she was just out for a walk. " Y.....Yes Sir Sarin... I...I Just wanted to go for a walk."

Janna looked at sarin then at sierra she still partly hid behind the tree quickly she moved to Sarin hiding behind him before she spoke .
"I don't like being with others " she said softly her face only just poking up from over sarins shoulder as she loked at the other squrrelmaid her eyes looking at them both and at the trees surounding them.
She looked at Sarin and touched his shoulder gently and moved her head closer to his and whispered.
"I found something" she retched into ehr pack and brough out a leaf and showed him. "any good ?" she asked.

Sarin smiled at the young squirrelmaid. He knew of her unquenchable thirst for adventure. Her mother had often remarked about it. Sarin liked to keep up with the ins and outs of the Abbey and its residents. He didn’t say for the minute and instead focussed on Janna, who had hid behind the Poisonmaster. He heard her first comment about being uncomfortable around others, to which he merely nodded and made a mental note to change that. She then leaned in close, which sent the squirrel blushing slightly, and showed him a herb.
“It’s good, thanks Janna. Now, how about I give you two a lesson in poison lore? I think it will be useful in the future,” said Sarin, putting the herb in his pouch. He sat down and rested his staff across his lap. He then got a few herbs out of his one of his pouches and laid them out. One was hellebore, a deadly poisonous herb, which was in the centre. The handsome male squirrel explained to both squirrelmaids what they had to do: guess which was the deadliest and the properties associated with the plant.

Unknowingly to the three squirrels, a third and quite odd creature was walking through the woods. He walked as his own relaxed and casual paste, but carried himself strong and on guard. His fur was white as snow but small patches of dirt showed, a token of his endless traveling. Still, it was nothing a good swim couldn't fix, and he was looking for just that. It might be a little odd to suspect such a creature of being an Otter, but just cause it don't look like an otter, don't mean it ain't. His clothing was that of a seaferers and his swords curved and wicked looking as any. He truly was a fearsome sight to see.
But the song he was singing blew all scariness to heck with sheer hysteria. "Ohhh, I'd bop a frog for some grog, fillet a fish for a dish, and kill a rat for a pack." He sang carefree, but quite on-key. It was an old ditty he made up years ago, but was still as funny and pathetic as the day he made it. This was Mest Whitepaw, the otter unlike any others. His eyes may be red, but they were brave and lively, not like you'd expect when you think of red. Anyways, he strolled through the woods but froze when he heard voices. Paw on his hunting knife and other at the ready, he silently sneaked a little further before making out 3 figures.
He couldn't really say he was revealed it was a couple of squirrels, more like disappointed. He wasn't blood thirsty, just needed the exercise. Still he knew the three squirrels must be from somewhere, and somewhere usually had food. "Morning mates." He greeted, raising his hands up to show he came in peace. He found that to be best when you look like a vermin. However that gesture of peace was offset by the large hunting knife he never let go of. Too bad he realized that too late. So no longer did he look like a vermin of peace, but a vermin with a scary blade raised in hand.

Janna tensed as she saw out the corner of her eye an otter walking there way. she hid more behind Sarin feeling that this place was becoming a little to crowded for her. She his the shaking she felt her body do. She clung to his clothes as she fought the urge to dive away and hide in the trees.
"S...Sarin?" she said softly her voice sounding as shaky as she felt "I don't like this, not one bit" she rested her head on his back something she had not done before but it gave her some comfort being close to him.

Sierra looked at Janna with a sad look when she said she did not like being around other beasts. In fact that kinda hurt her feelings. It made her sad that she would not be able to make a new firend. For Sierra loved to meet new people and make new friends. She watched Janna hid behind Sarin like she her self was scary. That again made her feel bad as if she had done something wrong." Oh.... Ok..." Sierra said in a sad voice. Then Sierra looked at Sarin and blinked when he smiled. Was he not going to force her to go back to Redwall? Sierra looked at Sarin still with worry held in her eyes. She did not want to go back yet.... She still wanted to see more... Much more.. But at the momet he did not seem like he was going to drag her back to Redwall.
Then to her shock Sarin offered to teach her about poison lore. Sierra blinked in shock and stared at Sarin. Then she started to think about it. Learning about differnt poisons and what thet could do would be very useful if she wanted to go on adventures some day. Sierra then relaxed and even walked a little closer to Sarin and looksed at the plants he had set out. Sierra looked at them and had no idea what one was the deadly one. Sierra sighed and shook her head. " I.....I... I don't know Sir Sarin..." Sierra said softly.
Just then Sierra head a voice behind her and she turned to see a beast that looked like a vermin. Sierra pink eyes grew wide she let out a small gasp. She then took out her wooden sword and stood in a swordmens stance as she held her swooden sword out infront of her. Was Sierra scared? Yas she is but she was not going to let her fear get in the way of what needs to be done. " S....Stay back vermin!!!" Sierra said as brave as she could but her voice shook a little as she looked at otter who held the knife in his paw.

Sarin listened to both their answers in silence. He could see it would take a while but he could be extremely patient when he wanted to be. Janna may be the quicker of the two, in terms of learning poison lore. She may even become a Poisonmaster if she became as knowledgeable as he. He sat back and thought about this. He didn’t want to give it away – he knew he shouldn’t.
Suddenly he heard an unfamiliar voice and turned to see...was that an otter or a ferret? He calmly gathered his herbs, hearing the others’ comments. In this situation it was best to remain calm and not show any emotions. Clearly Sierra and Janna thought otherwise. Once he had gathered his herbs and stowed them away he stood up.
“Good morrow to you good sir. You look awfully like a ferret but haven’t attacked yet,” commented the squirrel, preparing his staff in case this creature did try to attack them. He took a look at the tail and relaxed slightly when he saw it was otter-like. “Apologies, otter friend. We thought you were a ferret.”

Mest couldn't help but think who was the dibbun, and who was the older of the two female squirrels. Not based on sized, but reaction. The obviously larger female squirrel hide behind the male squirrel, while the little one, though clearly scared, held her ground. It reminded Mest of himself when he was younger, without the stuttering though. However that wasn't the only thing they had in common. She may of been a squirrel but her fur was clearly white and eyes clearly red. Mest was pleasently surprised by this, turns out he wasn't alone.
"Vermin? Nah, I'm an Otter, seadog actually." Mest explained with a grin before sheathing his knife. "Yeah, this isn't the first time this has happened.' The white otter brushed aside. After being like that all his life, he'd gotten used to resembling a vermin. "Mest Whitepaw's the name, mate.' He introduced to the eldest squirrel. Then he turned his attention to the white squirrel. "Hey little mate, aren't you the brave warrior of this lot." Mest complemented with a friendly smile. This squirrel was the first fellow White furred non-vermin he'd ever met, besides his reflection, so needless to say, he was interested in this one.

Janna looked around sarin at the otter she moved slightly out from him, she heard the otters words to sierra and it cut her to her heart. She could not help being afraid of others she didn't know after all it was a stranger who killed her family.
She moved back behind Sarin her head now hung low , just as she felt that way from his words, she wanted to turn and run from that spot to leave them to do what they wanted , but she didn't want to leave sarin ether and so was torn inside.
Her anger grew until she could not take it any more. "HEY!! Just because some one doesn't show them selves doesn't make them any less a warrior, you'd be this way if you lost your family to a stranger and lived alone." she shouted at him before moving back behind Sarin again breathing hard.

Sarin took it all in: the otter’s words, the atmosphere and Janna’s angry comment with a calm silence. He didn’t exactly know what to do with the otter, since he could be a spy for any nearby vermin. He made a snap decision based on what the Abbess would say if he returned with no otter. So, he did the only thing that he could do under the circumstances: return to Redwall.
“Mest Whitepaw, under the circumstances, I have to ask you to come with us to Redwall Abbey. Abbess Forsythia will decide what to do. Janna, go ahead with Sierra to the Abbey and inform the Abbess please,” said Sarin calmly. He knew that Sierra wouldn’t like this but under the current circumstances the otter was a new resident within Mossflower Wood. They had to know what his intentions were, and if he was indeed a spy for nearby vermin.

Sierra glared down Mest even though he said he was a otter he could be lieing and acting nice just to get her guard down. Her Father was killed by a vermin so needles to say she would never trust one or someone who looked like one. But when Sarin calmed down and said otter friend Sierra looked at him. He was older and knew more things then she did.. So if Sarin called Mest a otter then he was a otter. Sierra looked at Mest and gave a sorry smile and lowered her wooden sword. Then when Mest walked over to her she took one step back and looked up at him. Then blushed when he called her a warrior. That made Sierra speechless and her mouth hung open.
The only one to have ever call her that was her Father... So hearing someone else say it was very shocking. Sierra blinked a few times as she got over her shock and gave a small smile. " Th..Thank you.." She said softly. For her calling her a warrior was a high praise. To her that meant she was like her Father. And she wanted nothing more then to be like him.
Then when Janna shouted at Mest and said that her family was killed and that's why she was shy Sierra gave a sad look. She lost her Father... She would not know what she would do if she lost her Mother too.. She could understand the pain Janna must be feeling.. But its also wrong to blame every stranger for the loss of her Family... That's what it seemed like she was doing anyway. " Sorry you lost your family... I lost someone to... My Father.... In a war.... But... I needed friends to start heal... I think you do to.... Its not fair you shun everyone for a evil act someone did... Your not alone when it comes to losing family..." Sierra said and she looked down at the ground some tears forming in her eyes and she looked up at Janna again. " If..... You would let me I would like to be your friend..." Sierra said sincerely.
